Abstract:Techniques for probabilistic risk analysis (PRA) are analyzed with special emphasis on their application in nuclear power plants. Methods and codes currently available for PRA analysis in the Nordic countries are evaluated and compared. Additionally, the ability to generate unique failure parameters from available plant data bases and generic data sources is examined. The subsequent application of PRA techniques as an aid in the licensing and regulatory process is discussed.
