ToF-SIMS in nuclear sciences Workshop
7-9 June 2022, Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden
Seminar Venue:
The workshop takes place at Chalmers Johanneberg campus – located in Gothenburg on the west coast in Sweden.
The workshop consists of a theoretical part focusing on ToF-SIMS principles and lectures from specialists on correlated techniques like gamma and X-ray spectroscopy and electron microscopy. This is followed by a second practical part focusing on TOF-SIMS hands-on training with data acquisition from standards and environmental samples. There will be a second part focusing on data mining and data interpretations of in particular isotopic imaging of radionuclides, The aim of the workshop is to give the user a introduction to the use of ToF-SIMS and a rudimentary understanding of how to design an experiment and conduct an analysis.
Seminar Organizers:
Chalmers University of Technology/Göteborg University
Norwegian University of Life Sciences
Technical University of Denmark
University of Helsinki
Registration:
Please send an email to Per Malmberg malmper@chalmers.se
Registration deadline 30th of May November 2022. The registration is free. Light refreshments will be provided. Participants are expected to cover their own travel and subsistence costs.

NKS-B CRESCENT
The second workshop on credible release scenarios for nuclear-powered vessels operating in Nordic waters
8-9 June 2022, Iceland
The purpose of CRESCENT project is to review and update existing information and establish credible scenarios and release pathways for incidents or accidents related to nuclear-powered vessels operating in Nordic waters. The second workshop is related to discussions on credible release scenarios, and will be from morning 8th of June and to lunch the following day.
Participation in the workshop is by invitation only.
Workshop organizers:
- Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (DSA), Norway
- Swedish Radiation Safety Authority (SSM), Sweden
- The Danish Emergency Management Agency (DEMA), Denmark
- Icelandic Radiation Safety Authority (IRSA), Iceland

NKS-B RNSARCARDS
Maritime Emergency table-top exercise
29th-30th of September 2022, Bodø, Norway
RNSARCARDS is coordinated by the Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre North Norway and counts with the participation of the Icelandic Radiation Safety Authority, the Icelandic Coast Guard, the Joint Rescue Coordination Center Denmark, the Danish Emergency Management Agency, the Finnish Border Guard, and Nord University.
The purpose of RNSARCARDS is to develop a series of action cards for RN-SAR operations to be used by Search and Rescue (SAR) and Radiation authorities at the operational level (SAR mission coordinators on duty and Radiation authorities giving advice). The action cards are linked to the Nordic Handbook for Search and Rescue in a Maritime Radiological / Nuclear Emergencydeveloped under the NKS-B project RNSARBOOK.
RNSARCARDS will hold a table-top exercise (TTX) on the 29th and 30th of September in Nord University Preparedness Management Lab (NORDLAB) in Bodø, Norway. A center that provides an arena for education, training and exercising within the emergency preparedness and response field to academia and practitioners alike through advance simulation technology, crisis management support systems, and command and control support systems.
The TTX will serve to test the action cards developed by the RNSARCARDS project by involving SAR mission coordinators and members of the radiation authorities of the countries involved in the project. RNSARCARDS will also consider the possibility of having a secondary training audience and inviting other relevant actors to observe the exercise via videostream.
