NKS Seminar on the Fukushima Accident and Perspectives for Nordic Reactor Safety and Emergency Preparedness
The seminar was held on the 8th and 9th of January, 2013, at Finlandshuset in Stockholm, Sweden. The objective of the seminar was to give an overview of the Fukushima accident, with emphasis on issues of relevance to the Nordic countries. A total of 26 presentations were given, and the seminar had 140 participants. International perspectives were covered by Abel González (Vice Chair of ICRP), Wolfgang Weiss (Chair of UNSCEAR), André-Claude Lacoste (President of ASN), and Tero Varjoranta (General Director of STUK). It is hoped that the outcome of the seminar can be further developed into proposals for future NKS work and follow-up on relevant issues in reactor safety and emergency preparedness.
