NKS Programme Area: | NKS-B | Research Area: | Measurement Strategy, technology and QA | Report Number: | NKS-159 | Report Title: | YoungRad-seminar. Proceedings. Seminar for young scientists in the fields of radiophysics, radiochemistry, radioecology, radiation protection and related fields.Helsinki 14-15 December 2006 | Activity Acronym: | YoungRad | Authors: | Elisabeth Strålberg (ed.), Roongrat Petersen, Susanna Salminen, Rajdeep Sidhu | Abstract: | To provide an inspiring working environment for young students and scientists, it is important that they at an early stage can take part in a network of scientists working in their fields of interest. However, within each of the five Nordic countries the network of people involved in the fields of radiophysics, radiochemistry, radioecology, radiation protection and other related fields is rather small. Educational networking is a key factor in keeping young researchers motivated to continue working within these fields, and to recruit new students.
For that reason the first YoungRad-seminar was held in Helsinki 14-15 December 2006. 43 young participants including MSc and PhD students at universities, researchers at different institutes and personnel from Nordic authorities took part in the seminar. All Nordic countries except Iceland were represented. The seminar was divided into four sessions including oral and poster presentations. In addition two senior researchers were invited to speak about Nordic radioecology and NKS. This report contains the abstracts and presentations made at the seminar. | Keywords: | Seminar; young scientists; radiophysics; radiochemistry; radioecology; radiation protection | Publication date: | 01 Sept 2007 | ISBN: | ISBN: 978-87-7893-224-2 | Number of downloads: | 6119 | Download: | NKS-159.pdf |
